Fortinet announced its latest security gateway today, the FortiGate 60C, providing small businesses with previously unattainable, enterprise-class features at an entry-level price point. Rhythmic was invited to take an early look at the FortiGate 60C and beta test many of the new features. What we found was compelling value in a wide number of applications. New features include:

  • System-on-a-Chip (SOC) Design: Fortinet's new SOC architecture cuts manufacturing costs significantly, bringing its revolutionary FortiASIC processor closer to the system processor for enhanced performance.
  • On-board SD Card: The FortiGate 60C includes an on-board SD card for logging, quarantine and content archival, providing advanced reporting functionality right out of the box.
  • Configuration Wizard: Customers can now perform initial configuration on any PC using a USB cable and a simple configuration tool. This tool vastly simplifies the installation process, allowing small businesses to be up and running in no time.

In addition to these compelling new product features, the FortiGate 60C is also the first product from Fortinet built exclusively on its new FortiOS 4.2 firmware. FortiOS 4.2 provides significant new features like flow-based streaming anti-virus protection, wireless hotspot support, and VoIP security and monitoring features.
